Oslo Runway NEXT presents: Tarinii and Murlong Cres

We are excited to announce the two brands that are selected to participate in this year’s Oslo Runway NEXT program, scheduled to showcase their collections during the opening night of Oslo Runway on August 26 2024.

Get to know the two chosen brands, selected by this year’s program committee together with Oslo Runway - who are believed to have what it takes to be Norway’s next fashion brands.

The two up-and-coming brands will gain access to mentorship by experienced industry experts from a variety of fields within Norwegian fashion. By sharing their knowledge, they will provide invaluable opportunities for the NEXT brands’ further development. 

The collections of the NEXT brands will be presented in a dedicated runway show during the official opening night of the week in August, in front of around 300 invited guests. The show will be held at the prestigious Grand Hotel, celebrating their 150 years as an iconic spot in Oslo this year.

In addition to this, the NEXT brands will be showcased in the Oslo Runway Talent Showroom. The brands will be trained in circular design principles and benefit from a membership in Norwegian Fashion Hub as well.

Tarinii: - Menswear for all

Tarinii Martinsen created her brand with a wish to play with expressions within menswear as well as challenge and explore social stereotypes. Martinsen’s pieces demonstrate exceptional craft and are produced from exclusive deadstock materials and recycled textiles in her own studio in Oslo. 

Brands can participate in Oslo Runway NEXT a maximum of two times, and Tarinii has now been selected to participate for the second season in a row. After last year’s runway show, she was highlighted by several international media titles, such as Vogue Scandinavia and i:D.


Murlong Cres: - As seen on Elsa Hosk

Murlong Cres is a slow fashion brand born right in the middle of the most beautiful Norwegian landscapes - allowing them to find a natural motivation behind their dedicated work towards redefining the ethics of modern clothing production. Murlong Cres wishes to influence a new generation to appreciate good crafts, hand-made products and extraordinary materials, as well as develop more sustainable consumer habits. According to themselves, Murlong Cres is more than just a brand - it is also a movement. 

Wishing to make luxury into something accessible instead of exclusive, they specialize in outfits for life’s special occasions. Their timeless, high-quality pieces are perfect for weddings or similar.

The Swedish top model and influencer Elsa Hosk has already shown her love for the brand. Last year she broke the Internet by attending an event in Germany wearing a light yellow dress from Murlong Cres.

- Unique opportunities

This year’s program committee for Oslo Runway is made up of Norwegian industry leaders of various expert backgrounds - from Editors to Creative Consultants and Commercial Buyers.

- The committee has selected the two candidates based on their business potential and their visions concerning creativity and sustainability, explains Elin O. Carlsen, CEO of Oslo Runway.

- We hope Tarinii and Murlong Cres will make the most out of this unique opportunity providing more exposure, an expanded network and professional support. We are excited to follow their journey onwards, says Carlsen.  

Sunniva Hartgen, Head of Fashion in Oslo Runway, points at several reasons why these two brands were the chosen ones. 

- This will be Tarinii’s second season as NEXT. The program committee were very impressed by last year’s collection and wants to see how she will develop further within the same frames. Tarinii is pushing the Norwegian market and clearly stands out from the crowd with her atypical silhouettes and color choices, describes Hartgen. 

As for Murlong Cres, the program committee are filled with similar feelings of both excitement and expectation.

- Murlong Cres has been building on their own expression and brand DNA from the very beginning, and has seen an enormous growth in a short period of time. The program committee loves what they have seen so far and are excited to see where this brand will go to take it to the next level, says Hartgen.
