*POSTPONED Matre x Oslo Runway Design Salon: A Talk Series
OPEN EVENT *BY REGISTRATION
Designing Identity
How furniture, fashion and culture shape the nations that inspire the world: What happens when furniture and fashion meet?
What do Hermès and Ligne Roset, Prada and Cassina, Ganni and Fritz Hansen have in common?
The world’s strongest design nations rarely excel in just one discipline. They build cultures of taste, identity and lifestyle that leave a lasting mark far beyond individual products.
In this Salon, at Kunstnernes Hus, we explore why countries such as France, Italy and Denmark have succeeded in both fashion and furniture design; the connection between how we dress and how we furnish our homes; and how Norwegian players can collaborate to strengthen Norwegian design on the international stage.
Furniture and fashion are two expressions of the same driving force: the desire to create identity, belonging and cultural relevance.
Panel:
• Anders Kemp (D2)
• Caroline Kildebo (ELLE)
• Ali Gallefoss (Designer working at the intersection of furniture, fashion and art)
Moderated by Guro Røberg.
Together, we discuss what Norway can learn from the world’s leading design nations, and how we can build a stronger Norwegian design culture for the future.
Three questions lie at the heart of the conversation:
- Why do some nations succeed in both furniture and fashion?
- What is the connection between how we dress and how we furnish our homes?
- How can Norwegian players work together to elevate Norwegian design internationally?
“The strongest design nations do not simply build successful industries. They build cultures of taste.”

Nawa Origins
OPEN EVENT *BY REGISTRATION
Nawa Origins presents Between Two Skins, marking the unveiling of The Initiate Collection, a new body of work by designer and founder Selma Utonih.
Nawa Origins is an independent jewellery brand working across mixed metals, with each piece handmade by the designer and shaped by an exploration of materiality, texture and individuality.
Set within Hvelvet, the historic former bank vault at Sentralen, Between Two Skins unfolds as an immersive banquet of jewellery, sculpture and gathering. The presentation explores jewellery as a second skin and the ways adornment can communicate identity, origin and how we choose to present ourselves to the world.
Attendance is complimentary. Due to limited capacity, all RSVPs are subject to confirmation.
The evening will begin with a presentation, so we kindly ask guests to arrive on time to experience it in full.

FAQ
The Official Schedule happens between Monday to Wednesday each season, and is when we are hosting press and international guests here in Oslo as well as the national press. The brands on the Official Schedule have been reviewed against our criteria by this year’s program committee, and have paid the Official Schedule fee. More information about criteria and fees is described in our application portal. The brands on the Official Schedule will be promoted in our channels and introduced to press and key guests. The events on the Off Schedule program can take place any time during the week - and we love it for its ability to make Oslo bustling with energy and happenings! The brands on the Off Schedule program have been reviewed by the Oslo Runway team and have paid a lower fee to be a part of Oslo Runway and to have their chosen event marketed in our channels. *More terms apply. Please see applications for the Official Schedule or for Off Schedule separately.
Oslo Runway’s main goal and passion is to be a national platform showcasing Norwegian design, fashion and lifestyle brands as well as new talents. We strive to work for broader exposure and exciting opportunities for the designers and talents we know come out of Norway towards both targeted markets and on a global scale. If you are a Norwegian living abroad, but work within the Norwegian market, or if you are of another nationality, but live in Norway and are building your brand here, we are excited to welcome you onto the Oslo Runway schedule.
We are passionate about the fact that there should always be open events during the week of Oslo Runway. Some will be on the Official Schedule, while some will be on the Off Schedule program. Open events might require registration or an entry ticket - please check the program and line-up once it’s dropped on our web page and in our channels (in June, date TBA).
Please reach out to olga@oslorunway.no our Head of Communications & Partnerships. We’re looking forward to connecting.
Oslo Runway is excited to host international press and guests as well as national press during the week, while the brands curate their own guestlists (depending on venue/capacity). If you are relevant press, please reach out to info@oslorunway.no. If you’d like to obtain regular attendance, please reach out to the brands directly.
The brands on the schedule are responsible for booking their own backstage crews. Many of them choose to work with our official hair partner. Please reach out directly to the brands to request makeup work.
For the time being, we’re unfortunately not taking on volunteers due to capacity. This may change in the future, but if we were to look for anyone to join our team, it would be announced accross our social media channels as well as on our website.
The brands on the schedule are fully responsible for casting their own models for their shows or presentations. This means you or your agents will have to reach out directly to the brands you’d like to work for to request a casting invitation. For some previous seasons, Oslo Runway has helped the NEXT brands in their casting process by arranging a big casting day for any models signed in the Norwegian agencies - if we were to host another casting day again for future seasons it would be announced on our socials and on our web page.
