How to get the runway glow: Breaking down the Jan Thomas Cosmetics hero products

The Official Makeup Partner of ORW26 ensured glowy, dewy model skin. Now, we’re ready to recreate some of the looks off the runway, too.

FROM THE MAKEUP CHAIR TO THE RUNWAY
The eponymous Jan Thomas Cosmetics is built on the iconic makeup artist and TV persona Jan Thomas’ long career as a makeup artist and his experience, it’s a legacy brand that knows what it really takes to make makeup work. On different people, at different ages and in different situations. Needless to say: a natural match for Oslo Runway.

While Jan Thomas Cosmetics now encompasses a whole team of devoted professionals, Jan Thomas himself is far from absent.

– Today, Jan Thomas Cosmetics continues to evolve with one clear ambition: to create professional makeup that works in real life. The products are designed to be intuitive and easy to use, while maintaining a high level of quality, formulation and performance. This is also exactly what makes them relevant to professional makeup artists and backstage environments,
states Jan Thomas.

He adds:

– That’s why Oslo Runway feels like a natural fit for Jan Thomas Cosmetics. It’s makeup made for real people – tested where the demands are high.

It’s this exact balance Jan Thomas Cosmetics has mastered: combining Jan Thomas’ professional expertise with modern product development and high quality. The products are now just as easily found in a backstage makeup kit as in your makeup bag at home.

– We work closely and continuously with some of Europe’s leading manufacturers and suppliers. In Italy and Germany products, formulations, shades, textures and packaging are developed and refined in close collaboration, he explains.

THE RUNWAY GLOW
The ORW26 models were glowing. Thanks to several glow-heroes in the backstage professionals’ kits – such as the Jan Thomas Cosmetics Glow Me Up Setting Spray and the Jan Thomas Cosmetics Euphoria Highlighter.

Arlinda Peci, Brand Manager at Vita, shares:

– For me, glow is about making the skin look alive. At Oslo Runway, we wanted the skin to feel fresh, healthy and natural – never heavy or overly made-up. When you create a fantastic base, you can easily build on the look with more defined eyes or lips, she says.

She adds, sharing a personal glow hack:

– My best glow trick is to think about placement rather than quantity! Apply highlighter to the highest points of the face, especially the cheekbones, and work it well into the skin.

THE RUNWAY SKIN
True
glow needs to come from within – meaning itstarts with a well-prepped, hydrated base.

The models were primed with the Jan Thomas Cosmetics Glow Primer followed by the CC Cream Glow to Dull Skin to create a fresh, luminous finish.

– I like a base that evens out the complexion without completely covering the skin – you should still be able to see skin. Plenty of hydration, lightweight layers and products that work well together are the key to a result that looks fresh and lasts, says Peci.

Technique also plays its part in a good, glowing base.

– Rather than applying a lot of product at once, work in several thin layers. Start where you actually need a little extra coverage and blend the product outwards. This gives you a more even finish while still maintaining the skin’s natural glow, explains Peci.

THE RUNWAY PINKS
As a finishing touch, three go-tos from Jan Thomas Cosmetics were spotted on the runway: The Sheer Lipstick, The Lip Oil and the Blush Love. Lips were sparkling! Cheekbones were strutting! These pops of pink are the perfect tip to bring into fall for a glowing, refreshed look; making the skin come alive while still looking effortless.

– Rosy tones instantly bring life to the face. A touch of blush and a glossy lip make the skin look even fresher, and it’s precisely the contrast between the natural base, a flush of colour on the cheeks and shine on the lips that completes a glowy look, describes Peci.

For this season, the Jan Thomas Cosmetics Lip Oil was an obvious choice:

– The Lip Oil is a favourite because it gives you that glossy, juicy finish without making the look feel heavy, describes Peci.
