Talent Programs

Supporting the next generation of Norwegian design talent is a core part of Oslo Runway's mission. Through the two dedicated talent initiatives, Talent Award by Steen & Strøm and Oslo Runway NEXT, the platform works to identify, develop and champion emerging designers and creatives at different stages of their careers, by creating opportunities for visibility, mentorship and network.

Oslo Runway NEXT
Oslo Runway NEXT is a year-round development program for emerging Norwegian fashion and lifestyle brands. Created to support the transition from emerging talent to established business, the program combines strategic mentoring with industry access, helping participants strengthen both their creative vision and commercial foundation. Each year, an independent program committee selects the participating brands. The selected few receive customised guidance from leading industry professionals and become part of the Oslo Runway network in several ways; including a one year membership with the industry organization Norwegian Fashion Hub and the NF&TA Incubator. They will also be granted 50 000 kr and a dedicated slot to present their collections as part of the Official Schedule during Oslo Runway’s fashion week schedule.

– To me, this is an important part of what NEXT is about: it's not only a platform for showcasing emerging talent, but a space for designers to gain real experience, develop their identity and understand what it takes to bring their vision to life. Giving new voices the opportunity, responsibility and trust to create something entirely of their own is essential if we want to build a strong and ever-evolving Norwegian fashion industry, explains Sunniva Hartgen, Head of Fashion at Oslo Runway.

– It's exciting to see the NEXT brands produce and presend their very own shows. It gives them the opportunity to trult take ownership of their creative universe – not only of what they present, but of the entire process leading up to the show. From defining the concept and shaping the experience to navigating practical decisions, including just how crucial - and challenging - the choice of venue can be.

Talent Award by Steen & Strøm
Established in partnership with Steen & Strøm, the award recognises graduating students within fashion, lifestyle and art who demonstrate exceptional creativity, craftsmanship and potential. The award provides three nominated graduating students from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO), Esmod and Oslo Met with unique industry exposure. In the weeks leading up to the Oslo Runway fashion week schedule, the three graduates will have their designs exhibited in a designated pop-up at the Steen & Strøm Department Store (Karl Johan entrance), and during the Official Schedule of Oslo Runway, we will host a press event in the pop-up, allowing international guests and national press to meet and greet. The winner, announced during the Official Opening Dinner, gets a design residency with a Norwegian brand.

By connecting emerging talent with established industry professionals, the program offers a valuable platform for the next generation of designers and creatives as they enter the Norwegian fashion and lifestyle industry. An independent jury of industry professionals selects the nominees and winner each year.

– The S&S Talent Award is about discovering those who dare to forge their own path. This year's three nominees each have a distinctive point of view that stays with you – that lasting impression is exactly what we look for, shares Kaia Kongsli, Jury Leader and Head of Marketing at Steen & Strøm.
