Models are often looked to for inspiration on beauty and style. Not only because of their often flawless appearance, but for their way of glowing, their It Girl energy and their ability to seamlessly transform from one thing to another: from high glam and full speed on a fabulous job, to effortless coolness and maximum comfort at the airport or during a morning matcha pickup. What wellness routines lie behind it all?
The models know the tricks of the trade. Together with Pierre Robert, we pick the brains of Norwegian models Jenny Sinkaberg, Emilie Billington and Kawi S. asking about all things comfort and wellness.
– COFFEE AND SOMETHING SWEET ON THE SIDE MAKE LIFE (EXTRA) GOOD
Jenny Sinkaberg has been seen on the Oslo Runway catwalk countless times. The model and mother enjoys balancing out her busy work schedule with the small moments in between.
– What does comfort mean to you?
– For me, comfort is coming home to a warm house, being able to cook whatever I feel like eating, and having time to unwind with my feet up and my shoulders relaxed. Comfort is also about wearing clothes that I like and feel good in, she shares.
– What wellness and feel-good rituals do you have in your everyday life?
– No makeup and comfortable shoes whenever I’m not on set or at a show! Coffee and sweet pastries make life (extra) good – and I think it’s the best way to start the day. I also always like to end the day with a coffee or a tea and something sweet on the side, she says.
She explains how she’s constantly on the go with an eight-year-old and a thirteen-year-old who both have very active lives. They all love having lots going on, but it makes Sinkaberg very conscious about taking time to slow down during the day.
– A good cup of coffee at a nice café - preferably with a friend - a walk with music in my ears, or a long phone call with my 95-year-old grandmother always puts me in a good mood, Sinkaberg says.
– How do you unwind after a long day on set?
– If the weather is reasonably nice, I like to walk home after shoots and shows – almost regardless of how far it is. During Fashion Week in Milan and Paris, I’ll happily walk for one or two hours after a show to stretch my legs and unwind, she shares.
– I’ll often stop along the way for a coffee or a glass of wine and do a bit of people-watching, she adds.
– When I get home, I take off all my makeup, have a shower, put my hair up in a bun, apply a really moisturising face cream, and then it’s time to put on my comfy clothes!
– What is your ideal, comfy “model off-duty” outfit?
– I’m a jeans person, so it’s usually jeans with a tank top or T-shirt, layered with a shirt, blazer or coat, and a pair of sneakers.
– A SMALL EVENING RITUAL I ASSOCIATE WITH PEACE AND COMFORT
Kawi S. has had the kind of shooting star career you can only admire – and she’s not about to lose momentum. Naturally, she’s as graceful and inspiring whether she’s spotted around town in Oslo, or strutting down the Oslo Runway catwalk.
– What does comfort mean to you?
– To me, comfort is the feeling of safety and calm. It’s being able to let my shoulders drop and be completely myself, without feeling like I have to perform, prove anything, or worry about how others perceive me, she explains.
The feeling can come from being around people she feels safe with, being in surroundings that bring her peace, being truly present, or simply having time to herself.
– Comfort is also about freedom. The freedom to express myself, make my own choices, and feel that I have the space to be who I am, she shares.
– What wellness and feel-good rituals do you have in your everyday life?
– My most important wellness and feel-good rituals are definitely my sauna blanket and the LumaRed Glow Therapy Mask from Radiant Health. The sauna blanket is perfect when I need to unwind, warm up, and simply lie still and relax, while the LumaRed mask has become a regular part of my skincare routine. It’s like a little reset in an otherwise busy everyday life, she explains.
– I’ve become very conscious about setting aside small moments during the day when I can completely switch off and do something just for myself. It’s really all about the small things that make me feel good – both physically and mentally.

– How do you unwind down after a long day on set?
– The first thing I usually do is take a long, hot shower and go through my skincare routine. After wearing makeup all day and being around lots of people, it feels so good to wash the day away. I really just need to switch off completely and reconnect with myself, she shares.
– Afterwards, I almost always make myself a cup of tea. My favourite is lemon tea with ginger, honey and a little black pepper. It has become a small evening ritual that I associate with peace, comfort and simply being at home!
Kawi pinpoints that while doing this, she tries to stay away from her phone. Sometimes that means completely putting it away, to become truly unavailable and let both body and mind settle. Instead, she might watch a couple of episodes of her favourite comfort anime.
– There’s something about watching something familiar and comforting that means I don’t have to think too much. After a day of constantly being present, performing and taking in so many impressions, I find it really nice to just exist for a little while, she says.
– What is your ideal, comfy “model off-duty” outfit?
– To me, the ideal “model off-duty” outfit is comfortable but still put together. Effortless, as if I haven’t tried too hard, but still looking chic and polished. I love an oversized blazer or leather jacket over a simple basic top, paired with jeans or tailored trousers, and a pair of ankle boots. Preferably all in black!
– A SMALL SOLO DANCE PARTY BEFORE I HEAD OUT THE DOOR
A familiar face in countless Norwegian fashion and beauty campaigns as well as on the Oslo Runway catwalk, Emilie Billington has that It Girl energy whether she’s working or not. Naturally, she has picked up a thing or two about balance, comfort and wellness.
– What does comfort mean to you?
– Seamlessness! In a daily life shaped by travel, a fast pace, and having many things on my plate, one of the things I value most is when everything just flows without unnecessary friction. That feeling of being able to relax, let my shoulders drop, and be fully present in whatever I’m doing, she explains.
– What wellness and feel-good rituals do you have in your everyday life?
– The most important thing I’ve learned is to listen to my body and reset my nervous system. My morning ritual is a big cup of tea and a small solo dance party before I head out the door – it sets the tone for the entire day!
She underlines the importance of a certain typically Nordic, but universally applauded wellness ritual:
– During especially hectic periods, I always try to make time during the week for a sauna and cold plunge. Ideally with a friend. It’s the ultimate reset for me.
– How do you unwind after a long day on set?
– There’s often a lot of stimulation on set, so when I get home, I put my phone on Do Not Disturb, light some candles, and take a long, relaxing shower, she shares.
– Bonus track: that feeling of being freshly showered and getting into crisp, fresh sheets!
– What’s your ideal, comfy “model off-duty” look?
– It really depends on the season, but heading into autumn, I’m definitely leaning towards comfy basics that still look polished: sleek dark trousers, a fitted top, and then I’ll zhuzh it up with a vintage leather jacket and my trusty Proenza Schouler Chrystie bag, Billington explains.
– I’m also very much into a coordinated scarf-and-coat moment à la The Row! she adds.
